Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Maharaj Attains Samadhi in Chhattisgarh’s Dongargarh

On Saturday, February 17th, late in the night, Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj, belonging to the Digambar Jain tradition, renounced his physical body at Chandragiri Tirth in Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh. After relinquishing his role as an Acharya, he observed three days of fasting and meditation before ultimately departing from his mortal form.

Mourning and Final Rites

News of Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Ji’s departure led to a significant gathering of Jain community members in Dongargarh, where final rites were performed after religious ceremonies. The Madhya Pradesh government canceled all its cultural programs, and a half-day state mourning was declared in 36 districts, including Dongargarh.

Rituals and Farewell

As per tradition, wooden logs were arranged for the funeral pyre, and a large crowd gathered to pay their last respects to Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj. The final journey of the procession to the cremation ground was accompanied by prayers and rituals.
